Starting is the hard part

If you have ADHD, the problem usually isn't doing the task. It's the gap between deciding to do it and actually beginning. Beginbud is built for that gap and nothing else.

One tiny step

Tell it what you're avoiding. It hands back a single first action small enough that refusing feels sillier than doing it.

Zero setup

No sign-up, no permissions, no tutorial. From a fresh install to your first step takes under ten seconds.

Nothing is taken away

Stop after four minutes and you keep every point you earned. No forfeited progress, no broken streak, no scolding.

How it works

  1. Say what you're dreading

Type it, or tap one of the suggestions. "My emails." "The laundry." "That assignment."

  2. Get one small first step

Not a plan. Not a checklist. One action, in a sentence.

  3. Start together

Pick 12 to 60 minutes and Sprout works alongside you — body doubling, without another person in the room.

  4. Get paid for starting

You earn Sparks the second you begin, not when you finish. Spend them on seed pouches that grow your greenhouse.

You started. That already counted.

Why not just a timer?

Because a timer assumes you've already begun. Most focus apps reward finishing and punish stopping — they take back your points, break your streak, and hand you a small dose of shame. For a brain that already struggles to initiate, that makes opening the app its own thing to avoid.

Beginbud pays out at the moment you start, keeps everything you earned if you stop early, and counts totals instead of chains: you started 14 times this month, never you broke a 6-day streak.

What you're collecting

Every 20 Sparks buys a mystery seed pouch. Three taps to loosen the drawstring, then something hand-drawn tumbles out and gets sketched into your greenhouse. Some are rarer than others. All of them are a bit odd.

Questions

What is Beginbud?

Beginbud is an iPhone app for task initiation — the specific difficulty of getting started that's common with ADHD. You tell it what you're avoiding, it gives you one tiny first step, then works alongside you for a timed session.

Who is it for?

People who know exactly what they need to do and still can't begin. It's built around ADHD task initiation and executive function, but nothing about it requires a diagnosis.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no email, and no login anywhere in the app. Your first step is on screen within about ten seconds of opening it for the first time.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Everything runs on your iPhone, including the AI that writes your first step. The app makes no network requests at all.

Which iPhones can generate the AI first step?

The on-device model needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer running iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence. On older supported iPhones, Beginbud falls back to a library of written first steps — the app works fully either way.

What happens if I stop early?

You keep everything. Sparks accrue every minute and are yours the moment they're earned; ending a session early never removes them. You'll get a note about what you did do, not what you didn't.

Is my data private?

The task you type never leaves your phone. Beginbud has no analytics, no trackers, no ads, and no servers to send anything to. See the privacy policy.

How much does it cost?

Beginbud is free to download and the core loop — first steps, sessions, Sparks, and seed pouches — is free to use. An optional Pro subscription adds exclusive cosmetics and a monthly Epic pouch, with a two-week free trial. You can start something without ever paying.

What's a seed pouch?

Sparks you earn by starting buy mystery pouches. Open one and a hand-drawn collectible is sketched into your greenhouse. It's the reward for beginning — not for being productive.
